ConvayBot

ConvayBot is Convay’s web reader. When someone looks up a business, we fetch that business’s own website once to check things a visitor would see — a tap-to-call number, an enquiry form, listed services, published contact details.

How it behaves

• It identifies itself as ConvayBot/0.1 (+https://app.convay.ai/crawler).
• It reads and follows robots.txt; if robots.txt is unreachable, it does not crawl.
• It fetches a page once, with a 10-second timeout, and does not hammer sites.
• It never bypasses logins, paywalls, or bot protection — a blocked site’s site-based checks are set aside as “unverified” (you’re not zeroed).
• It uses the extracted features to compute your scores, and stores derived evidence plus a content hash — not full copies of your pages.

Opting out

To stop ConvayBot fetching your site, disallow it in your robots.txt:

Disallow: /

Or contact us to opt out. A business that opts out is still scored on its Google profile; the site-based checks are marked unverified and the affected categories are scored on what we could verify.
